Hey Les, I work in the Parts Dept. at a local Porsche dealership in Toronto. I haven'd had a chance to look up the prices for the Carrera GT's but I do know that the brakes cost well over $30,000CDN to replace. From what I'm told, the disks will never need replacing. The car is reported to be priced at $600 000CDN (probably aroung $500 000US), and we don't expect to see one in our showroom untill March.
I do know that the 996 has a Ceramic composite brake option that retails for around $16,000CDN, which includes 6 piston calliper for the front and 4 piston for the rears. I had the pleasure of being able to hold a disk in my hands. For a 12.75" (IIRC) rotor they weigh about as much as a 10.1" VW disk. Later, Mark. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Les Noriel" <[email protected]> To: "Mark Reda" <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2004 9:16 PM Subject: RE: [a2-16v-list] Clutch Options > In reading the article on the Carbon composite clutch for the Carrera GT, it > mentioned that it is the first of its kind.
