I have a 2000 passat wagon that I've been trying to sell. KBB has some really high numbers. I'd say 7500 is about right for the 98. Im asking 17000 and will negotiate with a perspective buyer.. for example KBB says 18400.. I got 0 hits from perspective buyers when I asked that much... not trying to sell you my car, just relay numbers...

I haven't had any problems with my car although, its a v6 not a turbo.. but electrically she's been sound.

I've heard of the same electrical gremlins you have.. I ended up putting in a good battery just so we wouldn't end up stuck someplace if something were to happen.

i'd get it. seems like a decent price to me.. Im in california.

regards-
Jim

I know this is a little bit off topic, but I wanted to ask you guys
before I braved the vortex.
I think the B3 needs a new clutch and I really don't feel like sinking
any more money into it. I saw a 98 Passat 1.8T with 80,000 for $7,500.
I haven't personally inspected it but from the pictures it looks to be
very clean, inside and out. It has a clean title and I know a girl that
works at the dealer so I have some trust with the dealer. There is a 1
year 12,000 mile warrantee on the car.
Do any of you have an experience with earlier B5 Passats? I have read
some mixed reviews on different websites, mainly complaints about the
electrical system and the turbo. Any common problems I should look out
for/check for? Is that too high of a price? Blue book says retail
should be around 10,000.
Any help would be great Brian
