If you are not careful it will. The back of the battery tray also scratches up the battery. A better solution is definitely needed.

I have an optima red top and it fits fine but is not held down firmly by the stock bracket. New Dimensions used to have a custom A2 bracket for the optima battery but this was long ago. Apparently it is not too difficult to fabricate if you are inclined to fabrication. Has anyone bought a battery recently, and have any insight? I am tempted to get a battery from a place like PepBoys or Autozone (full 2 yr warranty, 84 mth prorated), for only $50 or $60.
