I bet all that comes out of this is a pickup Touareg. Look at what
American's buy now - Ford F150s. I think they need to stick to
European influences - but I bet revenue envy will have them producing an
SUV/Pickup hybrid in no time... sad.

A new corrado would be a great thing. I think they have done all they
can do with the GTI and I think they were disappointed that after all
the whining by the US market about not getting a powerful GTI with all
wheel drive - all the R32s just sat in the lots. So many car
enthusiasts are all talk and never actually buy the cars they complain
so much about not having. This is why the car companies keep producing
Honda Accord copies year after year. People actually buy them. If they
produce a new corrado it will be a 'halo effect' vehicle like the TT is
for Audi, M3 for BMW and S2000 is for Honda. Expensive, impractical and
low volume.

The Japanese seem to get this right. And sell thousands of them every
time.

Edmunds has an article talking about some new 2008 models VW has on the
drawing board. One of the ideas they were discussing was the revival of
the
"Corrado" which was currently being proposed as a four door sedan.

VW won't get it.
