The 2.0l Motronic throttle body has a position sensor (potentiometer)

Not the GTI's or GLI's. They have idle and wot switches, but no pot. Maybe the Passat's had them, but I doubt it. The Motronic control unit doesn't have an input for a TPS. Now there is a pot on the fuel distributor that functions as a quasi TPS, but that's no help with a standalone system. Why don't you just get one form SDS? You'll have to make a bracket and some sort of linkage to connect it to the TB butterfly shaft or bell crank, but that's no big deal. Or, since I think you said something about forced induction, just get a TB from a ' 95 GTI VR6 or GLX (OBD1). That would kill two birds with one stone - you get your TPS, and a larger TB which you'll need if you're planning on much over 200hp. Again, you'll have to make an adapter to fit the TB on the 16V intake.

Decided today that I'd get rid of the stock fuel injection and go with a
stand alone efi system. Ordered a couple items:

and a EM4-4F from sds

Now I'll be one step closer to doing the turbo when the time comes. Too bad I just bought a brand new distributor that I haven't even installed
yet as I won't need it anymore.

Has anyone gone through installing an aftermarket efi before? Doesn't seem like it will be too bad. I need to figure out what do do for the throttle body since I need to have a throttle position sensor and ours
don't have one. What fits without much trouble?
