Was wondering why the list traffic stopped a while back. Guess we know why now.
My GTI 16V is parked in it's winter home along side my Rabbit.
This past summer it was time to do the timing belt change (years not miles).
Talk about good timing. When I tried to spin the old timing belt pulley
that was changed let's just say
I met with some unexpected resistance. Anyone who has had their 16V sitting
for a while should
consider a T-Belt/pulley change before firing it up. Especially if it has
been a number of years
since the belt/pulley was changed. Take it from someone who avoided a 16V
disaster.
I daily drive my '85 Golf unless it gets sloppy/salty out then my SUV is used.
Hard to believe in a few more years my GTI 16V will qualify for Antique
Auto Events.
Cannot wait to see the looks on some people's faces. :)
Every so often I see a VERY NICE Scirocco 16V on my commute to work. We
often exchange nods/waves.
Funny how that Rocco and my Golf both stand out in a sea of new automotive
iron these days.
