I ended up choosing the 195/50R-15 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec
based on a recommendation from one of the top drivers (in my opinion)
from the local auto-x event. The ratings and test results on tirerack
were also near the top... so after $460 with shipping for the tires
I'm ready to give them a try. I just put them on the car hoping to
get the car to an open track day tomorrow, but the weather is not
looking nice. I'll have to see how they do on the track next month.

Its kind of hard to justify spending $500 on a set of tires on a car
that most wouldn't pay $2000 for these days :)
