Finding leaks can be a challenge. I had a 1997 Rabbit that would flood every
time it rained. It would flood the rear footwells and slosh around when I
drove. Aggravating! But I could never ever find where the water entered the
car.

Rain gutters and window seals are still available for your Jetta. Get them
while you can. I think it is because there are modern version of the MK2 Jetta
being produced in China. In contrast, I've had a heck of a time trying to find
rain gutters and rear window seals for my MK2 Golf.
My brother found a nice set of rain gutters for me from a seller in Northern
California. I've found sources for some of the other front window seals (I've
got the smaller '85 door windows with the triangular glass up front. But I've
not found a source for replacement rear seals for the Golf. There are a ton of
rubber rear window seals on eBay for the pop-out glass which ironically is the
rarest of Golf accessories. But mine are the US issue Golf rear windows. I was
lucky enough to stumble on two fresh MK2 Golf 16Vs in a local salvage yard and
I collected complete door and rear hatch seals. But I'm still in search of rear
side window seals.

The 16V seems a bit neglected of late as I've been distracted with the other
cars in my garage so Ive not been able to spend much time on the 16V. But I
plan to resume work on it later this summer.
