The ceramic insulators on spark plugs vary in diameter and configuration (smooth, ridged, etc) depending on manufacturer. I seem to recall that some Bosch plugs are very smooth, and NGK's are ridged, or vice versa. And dialectric grease is your friend. Apply to both plug insulators and inside the plug boots. I always did this, and never had problems removing plug boots, even after a year or longer between plug changes/inspections.
