Because it's against the law? ;-) I would say: maxspeed=roadclass (or default?) maxspeed=maxspeed (which falls back to roadclass?) maxspeed=lowest maxspeed=highest Or maybe "speed=" if you think "maxspeed=maxspeed" is confusing. (I don't know if all roads exactly need a maximum speed, or if it possible to have a road without a maximum - in which case "speed=ignore" could be an extra option).
