Thanks for the quick reply,

OK, further investigation...

'melt noise' works so I obviously have the SDL module, Openshot did not
work when I tried the new MLT on a project I had been working on, however
starting a new project from scratch following a reboot it seems OK.

Kdenlive will work if the user has already run the initial setup wizard,
the instance where Kdenlive threw the SDL Module error was on a fresh
install of AV Linux where Kdenlive had not been launched yet and run the
config wizard so the SDL query issue seems isolated to a first run
scenario, hopefully as you said this will be fixed in the next release of
Kdenlive.

A huge thanks to you for all of the great JACK Audio goodies that have
found their way into MLT. LADSPA and JACK Transport Sync are really dreams
come true for content creators...:)
