I just did a fresh install of Slackware 8.0 on this old Pentium I have, =
and I need some help/information about choosing kernels. During the =
installation, I installed TWO kernels - 2.2.19 and 2.4.5 (both without =
SCSI). When it came to the configuration section of the installation, I =
was presented with 4 choices regarding which kernel to use:
- - Use a kernel from the Slackware CD
- - Use the default /vmlinuz
- - Use an image from a DOS floppy (zimage or something)
- - Use the kernel from the installation bootdisk
Now I want to use version 2.4.5. I tried the first option, but I was =
told that there was no 'kernels' subdirectory on the CD. So, I chose to =
use the default /vmlinuz and completed the installation. After =
rebooting, I find out that, unsurprisingly, it's using kernel version =
2.2.19. How do I change this? The kernel and modules for 2.4.5 are =
definitely installed on my system (somewhere), so how do I use them =
instead? Do I just need to re-configure LILO to boot the other kernel =
(wherever it may be), or does it require something more than that?
Thanks,

John C.
