Instructions to unsubscribe from this list at the end of the message - --------------------------------------------------------------------- I think u need to use the "smbpasswd" program to add a user to samba, it doesn't recognise linux users by default.
as for seeing the winxp box, try typing "smb://1.2.3.4" in konqueror - where 1.2.3.4 is the ip address of the winxp box. I also find the smbclient program useful to track down problems.
