Hi list, Very good idea about the MLUG Committee. Before we decide anything, I think maybe we should meet (I mean, meet offline, in the real world :D ) Maybe Ramon could suggest a date, time and location which would suit the time schedules of most of us (something like Saturday morning?).
In this meeting we could discuss: 1. Who does what in the LUG (both in the administration of the LUG itself, Linux promotion and the website) 2. What activities we shall organize in the near future 3. Other stuff As for promotion of Linux in the government, frankly, I very much doubt anyone in the government cares. Remember, Big A (Austin Gatt) is concerned with bringing big names (such as Microsoft) to the country, and, to bring in money. Anyways, this could also be discussed in the meeting. Finally, I really, really, hope that the meeting is actually done and that there will be good attendance. Without this meeting, I very much doubt we will be able to organize anything else. --------------------------------------------- Keith Vassallo http://www.keithvassallo.com Linux Registered User #290991 ________________________________________ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ramon Casha Sent: 18 November 2003 06:41 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [LINUX.ORG.MT] MLUG committee anyone? The Malta Linux User Group has been in existence for some time now and I think it's about time we had a proper committee. Frankly, it's not progressed much beyond a website and mailing list, and it could be much more than that. However I can't do it alone - besides I'm often quite busy at work and don't have much time left over. I'd like to start a discussion about what direction the MLUG should take in future, and hopefully on to plans for a proper committee. Here are some ideas to kick around: Meetings and other activities, meaning real ones not from behind the keyboards. Seminars/lectures about computer topics such as security, networking etc., specifically about Linux. Raising public awareness in the media about Linux and other OSS. Install-fest - people can bring in their computer and have it installed with Linux. Lobbying for adoption of OSS in the government. -- Ramon Casha <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
