There could be a number of reasons why this has happened. Firstly, the
installation may not have detected your display adapter correctly and
therefore attempts to start X has failed. This is usually configure
through xf86onfig (not for the faint hearted) or some other graphical
incarnation such as redhat-config-xfree86 (under redhat). Secondly, you may
be at the wrong runlevel. GUI Mode usually starts of in run level 5. If you
type in the command 'runlevel' under root and it shows up as "N 5" then you
are at level where X is usually kicked off. If this is not the case, you
have to edit the initdefault line in your /etc/inittab to read something
like this:
id:5:initdefault:
And then reboot the machine. If that fails, attach a copy of the dmesg
command output to an email and we'll take a look.
Cheers

Hi All
I've just installed Mandrake 9.2. When i rebooted the first it seems that
i've landed in 'Dos' Mode! How can i go to GUI Mode?
Thanks
