try the following:

log in under text mode, and type "startx" (enter). This should load up
graphics mode if graphics has been correctly configured. If it loads up
correctly, the problem could be that you didn't select to start up in
graphics mode. In that case, edit the file /etc/inittab, find the line
which starts with ":id:", and change the "3" to "5".

If the graphics was not set up correctly (ie, if startx doesn't load the
graphics environment) you may need to re-configure it. The standard
Mandrake tool to do this is called "XFdrake". You will need to login as
root to run this tool. Once in, follow the menus etc. to configure your
graphics card, monitor etc.
