Hey GNU/Linux users!

As part of our activities to further the promotion of GNU/Linux and the
Malta Linux User Group, we have decided that our local flavour of the
Linux penguin, Pingwinu, needs a makeover!

The current version can be found here:
http://www.linux.org.mt/article/penguin
and here:
http://www.linux.org.mt/img/penguin-big.jpg

We would like Pingwinu to get a more modern image to better represent
GNU/Linux in Malta.

If you're any good with graphics, we're asking you to come up with new
designs and send them in. We've created a special e-mail address:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] on which you can submit your creations. You're
free to modify the Linux logo as much as you want, be creative! The
original Linux logo can be found here:
http://www.isc.tamu.edu/~lewing/linux/

Here's a few things to remember:

1) There can be more the one submission from the same member, heck, the
more the better!

2) If you know any professional graphic designers or people who are
really good with graphics please ask them to participate. If everyone
asks at least one person, we'll double the amount of submissions (simple
math, I know...)

3) Images can be in any format, but they should preferably be in SVG.
EPS is good too. If you can't use those formats then please send them in
a format independent of any program, such as PNG, JPG etc... We also
accept The GIMP's XCF format. Please make your images as large as
possible, so we can scale them down later.

4) Since these images tend to be quite big in size (especially EPS
etc...) please TAR or ZIP your images before sending them to the e-mail
mentioned above.

5) If your image is chosen as the MLUG logo, you will retain copyright
on your image, but the Malta Linux User Group will automatically be
granted EXCLUSIVE and UNRESTRICTED use of the image.

Also, remember that by designing the MLUG logo, you will be forever
immortalized as a hero amongst local geeks and your ego will have a
great boost! How good is that?!

When a sufficient amount of submissions have been received, we will
choose the best five. We will then put a poll on the linux.org.mt
website where you can vote for the favourite one.

The MLUG committee is looking forward to seeing your designs, please
help us promote the OS we all love!

Assistant Secretary,
