Fowarding an email we received re a revision of the GPL for your perusal. Regards,
Brian ------ Dear Project Coordinators, The Free Software Foundation (FSF) has initiated the process for revising the GPL licence*. This process will start with an Initial Conference and release of first public draft on 16-17 January 2006 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and will lead to a new Version 3 of the licence by March 2007. If you want to get further information or be involved in the process, please go to: http://www.fsf.org/news/gplv3launch. Could you please forward this information to all the participants to your project. Kind regards, Jesus Villasante Head of Unit Software Technologies <<...OLE_Obj...>> * The GNU GPL is the most widely used Open Source Software license worldwide: Almost three quarters of all Open Source Software programs are distributed under this license. Since the GPL's last revision more than 15 years ago, software development and the business of distributing software have changed dramatically. Research firm Gartner recently predicted that by 2010 more than 75 percent of IT organizations will have formal acquisition and management strategies dealing with Open Source Software. As a result, business enterprises, as well as individual users and developers, will have an interest in the content of the new license. ____________________ Brian Restall Projects in Motion http://www.pim.com.mt Tel: +356 9984 7540 Fax: +356 2142 0852 ____________________
