We always knew that patents in Europe hadn't and wouldn't go away. When the patent law was rejected, US-style patents were rejected - not the IP laws themselves. At least these new laws will not be as bad as the former proposed ones (one hopes).
At any rate, one has to see how much energy the OSS and Small business campaigners have to keep fighting this damn law. Thank goodness I'm not leading the stride against patents, personally I think we're fighting a battle against people who simply won't take no for an answer. People who want to see US style patents in Europe. People with vested interests and without a care for any innovation that does not come from within their own back garden. Luckily, there are people unlike myself who beleive that campaigns against big business can be successful and will keep fighting till the end. God speed to them!
