Indeed, these guys would surely benefit from a bit of help from our side.
Ummm, I think we could benefit from theirs as well.
Are you sure you can take up the task of following them through with info and support? We will be meeting up next Saturday for a committee meeting @ 9:00am. Drop by so that you take it up yourself in the name of MLUG.
I am very busy, I just thought I could offer to give a presentation, you know, the stuff us guys take for granted, which would not require
much as presentation. Support would be another issue.
Next Sat is out of the question for me. On Sunday I'm going to Canada, I need Sat to prep myself for a 10 hour flight,  (and pack, and choose some mp3s for the flight etc...)

While on the topic, I find it very hard to find ready made promotional material for OSS (not linux, but the idea of OSS) online. Does anyone know where to get this stuff? Ready made three gate folders in OO format to adapt, presentations, etc.. some time ago I neede to explain OSS to a non technical guy and could not find anything ready made, that can be adapted. Its kinda easier if you have visuals.

The best thing seems to be keith's writeup.

Cheers,

Philip
If more people are interested we can extend this to more organizations without the need of any sub-committees and extra time wasted. I believe that we are all peers and ultimatley want one thing: to support each other in the use of Linux

Guys,

Do you know about these guys? http://mrc.org.mt/.

I was thinking of approaching them to reveal to them the benefits of OSS
for NGOs (if only I did 1/4 of what I think I should do). If I do get
round to doing this, can I use MLUGs name?

More generally, if one of us (not a committe member) goes to give a talk
about OSS, or write an email about an online service not being
accessible via linux, Can that person claim to be X from MLUG.

There are a few reasons why I bring up the point. As our numbers swell
the name MLUG will have more clout, and in many instances, speaking with
an organisation behind you, even if very small (and poor) makes a much
better impression than doing so in a personal capacity. On the other
hand MLUG is to small to appoint sub-commitees or waste time on
beurocratic approvals of public statements, while it needs all the man
power it can muster.

Any lawerish people out there who can help?

Philip
