Daniel i'm glad you found a solution for your problem. Actually i may point
out that the actual software which communicates with
the phone is called Gammu. Wammu is just a front end which helps you
manage the phone.

Also, as an avid Nokia user, I use p3nfs to connect it with my linux box.
