Ifem, I listed mySQL as it is an Open Source DBMS. Although a free version of the Oracle DBMS exists, and it should also work on Linux, it is not open, so I don't imagine we would include it on the disk. Personally however I don't think that it would be taken up by many students because: - The lecturer is very much Oracle oriented. - All practical work is based on class assignments. - Aside from SQL, PL/SQL is also taught, so Oracle would be needed anyway.
PostgreSQL has an RDBMS engine too right? In any case I don't think it would make any difference, it is one of the packages on the disk that wouldn't be successful... Thanks for the link!
