I realize that we all have a leaning towards Linux, but we should not
become Linux Bigots. Microsoft is foremost a for profit company, and as
such, will use warfare to destroy the competition. I have not seen or
tried windows7, but in fact, it may be a very good product. I believe it
was produced by Novell for Microsoft, and uses much of the knowledge
gained from SUSE to be re-implemented in W7.

Microsoft Office is a very good product, and it is a market leader.
Thus, to benefit from MSOffice, you may need to be under a Windows
environment. If MSOffice loses the exclusivity, through being forced to
support ODF, then the door is open to other software products that could
do better then just imitating MS word, Excel, etc. That may open the
doors a lot wider for Linux.

If windows7 is good, it will probably become my desktop machine. It all
depends on costs and my business needs.

Right now, the word on the net is that UBUNTU is what MS fears the
most. That is why the UBUNTU announcement release date was chosen by MS
to conflict and reduce the UBUNTU impact. (Reporters cant be in two
places at once). You can be sure that even the hours of the release
parties (and refreshments) will conflict.

My two cents.
