You need to install an sshd server on the solaris box (openssh is available according to google.) the real commercial ssh is available from ssh.com, if this is a commercial installation. Installation should be straightforward.
On the client, you need an ssh client (putty for windows, all linux have it by default.) Once both sides are installed, it should work just like the telnet client (prompts for username & pw, lets you log in.) It's a drop-in replacement. That is far better than telnet as it is, but after you have that working you could further increase security by using keys instead of straight passwords, and beyond that install some log monitors to prevent dictionary attacks (like fail2ban for Debian.)
