Hi Hendrik What about all the routers out there? Would not the ISP do the translation from ipv6 to ipv4 for you? And yes, you should still have your static ip address.

I've been told that teksavvy has started to do IPv6 on an experimental basis, and I think they resell through cable in Quebec. They're worth a call. Be careful, though. You may still need ipv4 to access ipv4-only sites, probably the majority of sites in the world right now. You probably will end up with a new static IP, since the IP number is used in routing, and the new ISP will have its own set of IP numbers that are routted through them. And watch out for the new CRTC rules on ubb; they affect cable too. -- hendrik ========== Hi Hendrik What about all the routers out there? Are they ipv6 ready? Why would the ISP not do the translation from ipv6 to ipv4 for you? And yes, if he does, you should still have your static ip address in ipv6 land, even though the ipv4 address from him may change. ------------------ Regards Leslie Mr. Leslie Satenstein 40 years in IT and going strong.
