There has been several proposed alternatives that all work to some extent. But the request is to have this issue corrected on the OS level. Now to do that, we need awareness. However, this is an English written page so a lot of people affected by this issue are not necessarly reading those pages (ie. French speakers in Quebec who use a French QWERTY keyboard). I mean, if someone was able to program and Gingerbread keyboard and have it work like we need, how hard can it be to take his code and apply it to future versions of Android.
