Adobe has come up with a new plugin mechanism which I'm told is superior to the one browsers have supported so far. Google has cooperated, and implemented it. Mozilla says they have no interest in it. Further versions of flash will use the new plugin mechanism, and therefore will not work on browsers that don't support it. Other browser writers will presumably make their own decisions. The new plugin mechanism is apparently an attempt to make plugins uniform across OSs. This doesn't really seem to be Adobe abandoning Linux. Though the experience I've had with Flash on Linux suggests they abandoned it long ago. Maybe the new plugin will even mend things. -- hendrik > > HTML 5 is in the works many web developers use Linux at least part > of the time so are likely to develop with technology that works > cross platform.
