Hello peoples, I'm looking forward to purchasing an ultrabook in the near future. I'm having trouble making up my mind between the ASUS Zenbook and the Lenovo X220. I have a considerable historical bias for Lenovo, since my 2 previous thinkpads are still alive and kicking. The keyboards are good and you can't beat having a trackpoint on home-row.
However, the competition is pretty fierce. The Zenbook pretty much wins in both weight and form-factor as well as SSD capacity. However, less ram, no trackpoint, and a keyboard I'm afraid I may not get used to. Any input on these would be appreciated. Thing is, Lenovo doesn't have retail space and I can't see one for myself. What I would really like is to do is go out for a beer with you(s), or any other beverage, while I oggle and paw at your X220 (or other ultrabook, for that matter), simulating some work and writing a little code in VIM. Specifically, I'd like to see how small the palm rests really are, and how thick 1.5" on the rear is. If you don't have a laptop and just want to reminisce about the 2.4 and Slackware days, that's cool, too; it's been a while since I've hung out on the sysadmin side of the geekery spectrum. Le plus on est, le plus on est fou (however that French saying goes). Thanks, L -- Rusty Russel said that any one quoting him in an email signature was an idiot. Does paraphrasing count? _______________________________________________ mlug mailing list [email protected] https://listes.koumbit.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mlug-listserv.mlug.ca
