Honestly, one of the reasons I switched back to Fedora on a couple of my boxes recently was because of issues with Ubuntu (and the installer(s), having to run ubuntu alt just to get additional options) and complex multi-disk, multi-boot + crypto partition setups. For all one might complain about F/RHEL/CentOS, I still think that Anaconda is far ahead of the rest. -E Hi Eric, As a software writer, I test my programs with both 32bit and 64bit systems. Gcc and the libraries are not all at the same level. I don't always do static linking, so with different libraries (dlls), one must do source code porting and testing. I had very minor issue with anaconda, and filed a bug report. I also asked them to review gparted, to show the graphical layout of existing partition space and to allow me to click on the boot, root , swap and location for the loader. Sigh, I wonder if it will come to pass. Yes, Anaconda is great, when you get over the shock of the summary screen that presents a lot of information. But how I work with anaconda is very easy. On a disk with multiple linuxes, I delete the partition, swap file and boot using gparted (I really like this tool), and then boot Fedora. One option that it asks me is if I want to use all the free space, and I say yes. -- works like a charm. By the way, if you want to protect a partition, allocate it with unknown file format. It will be protected from Anaconda. Life is easy when you know the tricks. The Ubuntu guys can tell you a similar story.
