There are two distributions that I use that for my purposes, is superior to
Ubuntu,
a) Chapeau 64bit Chapeau | Fedora, for the desktop. (liveimage with installer)
b) Russian Fedora Remix Index of
/fedora/russianfedora/releases/RFRemix/20/RFRemix/
Both of these come with all codecs and support for many older graphics cards.
Chapeau will install Fedora and include flash, codecs, and some non free
applications (chrome, etc). Same for the Russian Fedora. The Russian Fedora
Download is a DVD image.
Of course, you need to run sudo yum update after rebooting the installed
system.
