kalo membaca postingnya, kayaknya ini posting dari
kejadian tahun 2003 lalu deh, bukan yang tahun 2005.
fyi, mars mendekat ke bumi setiap 26 bulan. makanya
setiap 2 tahun, amerika memanfaatkannya dengan
mengirim wahana angkasa ke mars. so, actually nothing
so special about it.
itu posting bohong kalo bilang 'it will look like the
earth has 2 moons'. a big lie. soalnya saat itu
terjadi (27 agustus 2003), diameter sudut mars kalo
dilihat dari bumi hanya 25,11 detik busur. padahal
diameter sudut bulan saat itu adalah 1907,63 detik
busur (atau 1907,63/60 = 31,8 menit busur). jadi
ukuran mars saat itu sekitar 76 kali lebih kecil dari
bulan. mars dengan mata telanjang tetap terlihat
sebagai titik, hanya saja cahayanya lebih terang dari
kecerlangan rata-ratanya sepanjang tahun.
variasi jarak terdekat bumi-mars (dengan periode
sekitar 26 bulan itu) dari tahun ke tahun juga tidak
terlalu besar. variasi ini disebabkan oleh perubahan
kepepatan orbit masing-masing mars dan bumi yang
berubah, dan sumbu major/minor orbit yang juga
berputar (bentuk elips orbitnya yang berevolusi).
sebagai contoh:

bandingkan misalnya yang tahun 2003 (magnitud -2,9)
dengan tahun 2005 (magnitud -2,3). dengan beda jarak
ke bumi 0,0814 au, beda kecerlangannya hanya sekitar
0,6 magnitud, cukup sulit dibedakan kecerlangannya ini
dengan mata telanjang.
