I'm afraid I can't help you as I don't have experience in editing that file format, but perhaps someone else could help. What is more interesting from a developer's point of view is figuring out why the automated XML backups stopped working for you a month ago. Is there anything that could have caused this (changing permissions on the directory, moving it around, disk full, disabling backups in the config.py file, ...)? Is there any error_log.txt file in C:\program files\Mnemosyne?
