I tried the Brain Workshop. It reminds me of a game on the BBC Model B. I think there was a 5x5 grid of identical, featureless squares. A random square would open to show, for example, Mickey Mouse. The square would close, and a different random square would open.
If an opened square was identical to a previously opened square, you had to point at the previously opened square with the mouse. This caused both squares to be removed from the grid. I seem to remember that the kids never got a chance to play, because adults were queuing up :) On Sep 23, 1:59 pm, Gwern Branwen <[email protected]> wrote: > On Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 9:04 PM, Michael Campbell > > > > <[email protected]> wrote: > > > Gwern Branwen wrote: > >> On Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 8:18 PM, Michael Campbell > > >> I think the original reasons were just it's simpler for user & > >> implementor, and that's the way SRS systems always did it - did anyone > >> but Anki and Pimsleur do sub-day scheduling? > > > I was thinking of those 2 when I wrote this... =) > > >> Offhand, I don't know of anything; but there *is* a study showing that > >> doing dual N-back (training of working memory) before bed is somewhat > >> more effective than upon waking. > > > I'm new to this, but could you expand on what N-back training is?
