For learning new cards, what you call cramming is no problem, and actually the 
only way to learn them :-). I was only saying that cramming through 'learn 
ahead' is not recommended.

There is really no need to count the attempts. My advice is, don't 
overanalyse, just go with the flow, and after a while you'll get a feel for it 
all.
