I'll agree that I also sometimes want to skip over my lapsed cards and
jump straight into fresh, never-memorized cards, especially because I
take all of my notes in Mnemosyne (I'm a graduate student) and don't
like to leave new material unrehearsed. I usually just sidestep the
issue by deactivating all non-coursework-related categories if I fall
a bit behind; it helps me to catch up on the coursework-related cards,
which I consider to have highest priority.
