OK, I've made a small update explaining bzr pull. Note that once I make a 
proper release on Linux, the instructions will becoming much simpler, as you 
don't need to deal with Launchpad then.

Yes, this is to make it more convenient to use on USB drives. The same 
behaviour was present in 1.x too, BTW.

If you do the bzr checkout from ~, that will indeed happen. I'll update the 
docs to warn against this.

It's to make the API docs. For a proper release, this will of course not be
