I read the synching link, which I did not understand at the point of "client configuration" because on the new laptop, it states "server NOT running"?
Did you get any error messages in the previous steps, i.e. activating the server on the old laptop? Did you copy the IP address given there? Is Mnemosyne still running on the old laptop? Are you on the same network, i.e. not behind a firewall?
And I don't use dropbox. Can I just copy the files to a jump drive and paste them into the folder on the new laptop?
Sure, but if you want to do that a lot, it's time-consuming and error prone to copy files back and forth.
