I figured it out on the slate laptop - I just copied the new database to a USB drive, and then deleted it from the directory; and then un-installed and re-installed Mnemosyne 2.2a and now I can use the browser (on the slate laptop). However, the silver laptop is still confused with the browser function, and I will try to uninstall and re-install Mnemosyne again, tomorrow morning.
