If a new user of Mnemosyne is already familiar with the strategy of the *Spaced Repetition System* (SRS) upon which it is built, then they probably won't have a problem with how it *spaces out* the cards over time: lesser-known cards are shown more often, better-known cards less often. The program adjusts the spacing or timing as the user's memory improves or degrades for each card.
But if a new user expects Mnemosyne to work like physical flashcards where any card may appear at any time, even if it is already known well, then the program may be frustrating. I suggest two remedies: 1. Learn something about how SRS works, for example this nice article http://www.xamuel.com/spaced-repetition-systems/ Then relax as Michael Campbell advises, and let the program dynamically adjust the spacing according to your performance. 2. If you feel you need extra time with particular cards, you can use Mnemosyne's cramming scheduler, or supplement with a written list, physical cards, etc. (Although if you just can't seem to learn a card after many attempts, it may be that it needs to be rewritten in better form -- see http://www.supermemo.com/articles/20rules.htm ) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "mnemosyne-proj-users" group.
