I have the same request. I started using Mnemosyne a couple of weeks ago for training my 7 year old in his writing and multiplication/division tables. Every week they get a new set of words and multiplication/division table. I started out making a separate database per set. It's only a couple of days later I found the energy to read on and understood and sunk in what and where the "tags" feature is all about and that this is the way to do it, allows to activate/deactivate a set.
So is there any update on merging 2 databases? Or is it still the export as .cards and then import it whilst having the main set running on Mnemosyne? We have several portable computers and I wanted to be able to work on Adding/training with mnemosyne without having to worry about where the database is located. I put the database in a google drive folder .. but Mnemosyne keeps going to the database on the hard drive of the laptop.
