One difference between the single card and the database is that in the single card I added the sound file via right click so the file is stored in the default.db_media folder.
For my real database the sounds are all in folders within the default.db_media folder. I can't remember how it ended up this way (has been a while since I created the cards and have been through a few mnemosyne upgrades) but it was definately preferable to having all the sound files in one folder. Could this be a problem.
