Don't know what I am doing, but I have tried the following:

jim@jim-dell:~/Downloads/mnemosyne-master$ sudo python setup.py

setup.py without sudo gives this error:

THIS OPENS mnemosyne 2.6 as root: (seemes to work ok as superuser, but 
gives the following messages)
