There should be no problem with the debug output in V2. I'm wondering if this file copy was the problem. Do me a favor and delete the modelglue directory, then copy the latest V2 files and restart ColdFusion. That should remove a whole class of variables in the troubleshooting.
If that doesn't work, I wonder if you have a <cfcontent reset="true"/> somewhere that clears the buffer?
