If this were me, I'd just append the value, rather than forcing all the link
assembly through linkTo()
Like so:
<cfset thisCalMonthStart= event.getValue( "thisCalMonth" ) />
<cfset formattedPreviousDate = DateFormat(DateAdd("M", -1, thisCalMonthStart),
"YYYY-MM-DD") />
<cfset formattedNextDate = DateFormat(DateAdd("M", 1, thisCalMonthStart),
"YYYY-MM-DD") />
<cfset prevMonthLink =
'#event.linkTo("pcalendar")#&thisCalMonth=#formattedPreviousDate #' />
<cfset nextMonthLink =
'#event.linkTo("pcalendar")#&thisCalMonth=#formattedNextDate #' />
