hey this is part two to my late night ramblings. if you dont like this
kinda post just ignore it and please dont send me this evil "why are you
posting huge amounts of shit to the list" the way i see it.. this list
is pretty low maintenance and this is mouse related so uhm. thank you
drive through.
russ spent it all on game machines

----------------------------------
bankrupt on selling - first modest mouse song i ever heard and LIKED.
this is a GOOD song to play at an open mic. the part about going to
college get me.. as much as it gets other people. i dont learn big words
in college. unless they have to do with computer components.
breakthrough - another one of these songs i really liked at first and
now i dont as much. i like it up until he starts screaming. because it
just doesnt mean anything. but then again if EVERY song meant something
i wouldnt appreciate the ones that did.
convienient parking - man i was walking through crossgates mall parking
lot and couldnt get this out of my friggin head. genius i tell ya. goes
nowhere but catch as fuck.
cowboy dan - also a good song to play acoustically at an open mic. cuz
people look at you funny afterward. i got mine but i want more. ill give
this song a 9.8 out of ten.
custom concerns - beautiful but i feel so hypocritical saying this...
chorusless songs seem strange to me (i feel hypocritical because i write
a lot of chorusless songs). but definetly soulgrippng
dirty fingernails - i hate this song. when i hear it.. i skip to the
next song.
dog paddle - about as bad as might. these kids who were friends with my
roommate heard dog paddle and then went somewhere and it got stuck in
their head and they got mad at me. hahaha
doin the cockroach - one of my top five.. when spencer from MCD sang
this when i saw the mouse it was just too awesome. theres power in this
song. power to move a nation. if you dont know what i mean then you
never will.
dramamine - love it. i love the bent harmonic thing. i love the workds.
i think i know my geography pretty damn well (and you know damn well he
says geography... because isaac loves driving and land and everything
else. screw this "geometry shit")
exit does not exist - i dunno. thought it ws alright at first and now i
guess i think i like it less. this is the kind of song i would write and
then throw out.
head south - here things go from green to grey and back to grey again.
that nails down the place i go to school. place fucking sucks. but
yeah... thumbs up. maybe even a top five candidate. plus you cant really
go wrong with calvin. well wait. yes you can. but when hes good hes
good.
heart cooks brain - i am so impartial to this too.... i like the brains
a burger thing but it works a hell of a lot better in closing time.
theres something to be said for record scratching in songs. and that
something is good
jesus christ was an only child - yay! i usually dont like songs about
jesus. but this one is nice. because its not a very good song about
jesus. haha. plus old time fiddling rocks.
karma's payment - yeah.... kinda pointless and going nowhere but
nonetheless a very good song. someone told me that they wont play
anything off TFTAI in concert because they dont like it all that much.
the first two lines dont fit in this song.. they oughta be in edit the
sad parts or something.
long distance drunk - this song and heart cooks brain could be "the same
song" and i wouldnt notice.
lounge (closing time) - dude what the hell is a "syllable lisp"? neet
rhyming on this one and blah blah blah - i dig it when he says "they
thought you were smokin". i think it would be great to go up to a girl
and say "you are so hot i would like to steal your digits" and get
slapped. this is one of the only two songs i know of that say
"cinematographer". the other of course is palace's "i am a
cinematographer"
lounge - goddamn right. i dig it. lots. its that weird vocal effect i
think.
make everyone happy/mechanical birds - hey this is my second favorite.
because the lyrics are just so fucking sad. and to boot. those
mechanical bird sounds like stab me in the heart. does this happen to
anyone else?
manic depressive named laughing boy - the person who hooked me up with
this was sure that iw ould be disappointed with it... but i actually
quite like it... although it had that lofty spacey feeling almost like
workin on leavin the living.
mice eat cheese - i really like this too but he does this classic "im
not going to rhyme the way you think im going to" by saying "by myself"
instead of alone and "walk around" instead of "roam". TRICKY i tell you.
might - i-i might "suck"
ohio - hated this at first too until i listened to it. always thought he
said "rosa likes to illuminate lines" was disappointed when i found out
what he really said. yeah.. this is good shit. kinda gets me in that
weird under the skin way.. and i dunno why.. cuz i dont know anyone in
ohio.
out of gas - second song i heard because back when i did a radio show
with this evil conniving bitch she didnt like to play long songs unless
she knew them. and this is like the first or second shortest song on
LCW. and opinions are like kittens....
polar opposites - i think i got some members of the albany area hooked
on mouse due to this song. and one day i took a lot of chalk and i went
around campus writing mouse lyrics. and i sprawled this one across one
of the most heavily walked areas. because the fucking kids there follow
that regiment. you know.. about drinkin away the day. :o
she ionizes and atomizes - lofty, spaced and fine :D. thought he said
"shit ionizes" the first time. by bad.
shit luck - hated it at first. now i love it. go figure.
space travel is boring - yeah i dig this too. and i used to hate it.
but... eh.. lonliness.
styrofoam boots (its nice on ice alright) - yeah the beginning of this
song is beautiful. and the part about telephone rings is beautiful. and
this song is just so damn good. top five material for sure. like
medication.. this is like poetry to be inspired by.
summer - the coolest part of this song is when he goes "damn whos paging
me now".. hahaha. cracks me up whenever he says it.
sunspots in the house of the late scapegoat - love it. its catchy...
kinda like novocain stain although the lyrical content for this one is
fitting. makes ya wanna dance w00p.
talking shit about a pertty sunset -
:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~)
teeth like god's shoeshine - wooo wooo woo this was my favorite song for
a very long time and then i overlistened to it. so i try not to listen
to it very much. this shows the true genius of the mouse. i feel dizzier
by the mile. this is often way too overquoted by mouse fans far and wide
though. but jesus christ.. damn effing good.i would never think of
something so amazing.
the fruit that ate itself - i have this really kinda hick friend who
likes warrant and poison. and he heard this and hes like "THIS is the
band that you like so much?" but i think he actually liked it. i love
the "cuz i dont understand". those boys know how to use a multitrack.
yeah. this song is mint.
the waydown - impartial. sometimes i like it and sometimes i downright
hate it. the opening lyrics are really nice but it just doesnt sound
good in my head i guess.. or whatever.
trailer trash - also quite quite good except i wish he didnt just repeat
the same verse. because it has so much more potential.
truckers atlas = ok. first time i heard this im like What In The Fuck 10
Minutes. i was like christ ten minute song WTF. and then i listened to
it.. because i figured hey it must be 10 minutes for a reason right? and
it is. sort of. i dunno. i like it but i wish it had more content. i
love the two screamed lines. you know.. about alaska and arizona. this
girl i know was bored the other night so i told her to draw a truckers
atlas. and she did. i have yet to see it.
whenever you see fit - yeah dude.. i saw it live before i had heard it
and wished that i had heard it before i saw it live. kinda pisses me off
that the remixes arent more isaac oriented but eh.. whatever. its very
epic in a way. hell for 15 minutes it better be somethin.
