<<i think thats somewhat a harsh statement..maybe a generality....it
really
strongly depends what you are exposed to...in all seriousness if you've
heard
a chem bros. song and say that techno sucks...its the same as hearing some
boring corp. rock song and saying that rock sucks.....i live in
wilmington, delaware>>
I lived in Europe for a year and pretty much all my friends
listened to techno and when we went out, we went out to clubs and danced
to....you guessed it techno. Kids driving their hoopties down the street
would be a-thumpin' techno...even kids on scooters had sound systems
blarin' the shit. True it's a generality. Generally I dislike techno
(especially the songs that consist only of the lyrics like "move your
ass" or "shake your butt" and last for like 10 minutes...I guess that's
the club version though). Generally I dislike corporate rock. Both
genres have their place in the world, but not in my stereo and you
know what though that might just piss you off...I'm totally okay with
it so DEAL WITH IT. If my grandchildren hate my taste in music; so be
it...many of my clos friends and family can't stand much of music
today, but it's not a big deal. In the words of my favorite Professor
ever, "Different strokes for different folks, and for some folks no
strokes at all". BTW since this is the Modest MOuse list I guess I should
write a little about "the mouse". I had heard from a friend of an all
night diner in Issaquah...well I spent the day in the mountains having a
hoot of a time with my posse and we rolled through Issaquah on the way
back...and you know what? There it was! Larger than life: the
barrel-shaped sign/billboard read:

                               XXX
                             Rootbeer
So we stopped in for some greasy burgers, shakes ,and floats.
It's actually called the "XXX Drive-In" and it doubles as an antique shop.
It's a typical nostalgia joint with pictures of hot rods and old school
juke boxes. So if you're ever passing through go ahead and drop in...but
bring cash, because at the XXX Drive-In they don't take attitude and they
don't take Visa.
