>When its not indie, it loses its gravity, loses the very stuff
>that makes it worth my time to listen to...Dont forget
>why they started going underground in the first place.

Yeah, because of people like you.

This argument is so ridiculous that I feel absolutely compelled to reply.
Music is about sharing to me. If you want yr music to be so strictly
underground, then why would you be excited when someone else has heard of
it? Doesn't that mean that someone is infringing on yr priceless indie
turf? What a fucking joke. It's about the music, people. It's not about
"Yeah, I like this band and I'm so happy because no one else has heard of
them." When bands stay completely unknown, they can't thrive and continue
to make the music that you love so much! You see, they need to sell RECORDS
and concert TICKETS to make money, and that money in turn ensures that they
will be able to continue making records and playing concerts. If you want
to be an elitest indie snob, then discover some local band and tout them for
the world to see. Why don't you champion yr own cause? If being
underground is so important, then why are you still listening to MM now?
Aren't they getting too big for you? Better jump off the bandwagon before
the Epic release comes out and goes gold because then you'll lose all of yr
valuable indie cred. Making a connection through the music doesn't have to
remain on the smallest possible scale. My friends and I connected with MM
the first time we saw them in '96. Why can't people appreciate music
instead of running it through a grindmill of labels and comparisons and
projected hopes and genre titles and so on and so forth ad nausem? If being
underground is so important to you, may I recommend Smell & Quim or Cock
E.S.P. or any countless number of other unknown artists (but of course, if I
tell you about them, then they won't be so underground anymore, will they?).

I had to laugh when you had Built To Spill lyrics as a sig file.
You know they are on Warner Bros, right? That's not an """indie""", ya
know...

I love the music not the labels,
*phiL*
