I would say no, but "emo" is about as definative a label as "indie".

I like emo, and I _love_ the mouse. The main difference I see is that
"emo" bands tend to take things a lot more seriously than MM tends to.

I think its probably more the indie rock thing. There are enough bands
that aren't definately "emo" or definately "indie" (Jets to Brazil,
Promise Ring, Pedro the Lion, even 764-HERO), that people trade off
monikers and the next thing you know Mineral is indie and the Mouse is
emo.

As a side note, I don't belive in any of these labels (music is music),
I'm just commenting on how I would bet things got mixed up.

Here in Oregon things are pretty much completely different. The only local
college station (KWVA, 88.1) plays Promise Ring, Braid, Get Up Kids,
etc... as well as the mouse, Built to Spill, [insert "indie" band here],
etc...As far as folks go, there's not much of any sort of "scene" really
at all, so the indie kids will come to the Braid/Get Up Kids show under
the bridge, and the emo kids will wear their glasses to the Built to Spill
show.

They're "boys" and "girls" here in Eugene. And I think thats about all
there is to say about them.
