The location of the release had nothing to do with why I misunderstood.

I never said I wasn't satisfied and didn't intend to imply that I was.

That was thoroughly understood by me before inquiring further.

>Official release, not released in USA, not a bootleg.

     Yes, I understand. Thank you.

I feel that I've been grossly misunderstood throughout this entire
thread, seemingly due to my crappy syntax. I was already aware that Rebel
Beat Factory was a legitimate distributor over in Japan and I was already
aware that the recording, as far as its label goes, was official - what I
wasn't clear on was whether or not Modest Mouse had given Rebel Beat
Factory the go-ahead as far as releasing the EP. This has happened before
with other bands and their labels, although I can't think of any specific
examples to cite at the moment due to copious alcohol consumption.

I just wanted to make that clear, and I should've rephrased my
original question, which would have been "I heard Modest Mouse didn't
officially endorse the release of the _Night on the Sun_ EP. Is this true?"

And the answer, obviously, would have been "No, this is not true."

My apologies for not being as clear as I could've been.
