just because something is accepted doesn't mean you should accept it,
especially if you agree that it isn't cool. i don't believe in stereotyping,
and due to the environment i grew up in, i've had to try very hard to
dis-accept all the harmful things i heard from friends and family. now, i
don't want to tell people what to think or say, but in certain cases it is
in my best jugdement to reprimand. like when my friend calls someone a spic
in front of his son, or when my little sister uses the word gay or faggot to
describe something undesirable. i think we should at least prevent this kind
of stuff from being instilled in the minds of future generations.

on the other hand, i cant stand it when people scold their children or
husbands or friends for saying "nigger" aloud or something universally
unacceptable like that, and then act just as badly by snickering at a Jewish
man walking down the street on a Saturday night or a making fun of a Korean
man's accent. just because these are less obvious offenses, doesnt mean
theyre OK . of course, it's hypocritical, and it's obvious that they just
disapprove of the nigger comment because it is embarrassing and it makes
them look bad. sorry for the rant; it's happened to me a couple of times
lately and i hate it.
